Product development for us means listening to our users and trying to develop solutions and improvements that provide real benefits for our customers. Several of us are also users of the Iron Horse ourselves and understand the challenges that a robust off-road machine is exposed to on a daily basis. When developing the new Flex 2, we have taken the popular chassis from the current Flex model and made a number of improvements and introduced new features that you can read about below:
WHAT:
A hydraulic winch powered by a hydraulic pump connected to the primary variator. NOTE: Can be disengaged and has a remote control.
WHY:
To minimize the need to run back and forth to the machine when winching timber.
OTHER INFO:
The function is standard for Flex 2.
The release is activated with a mechanical lever on the machine and when starting operation via the remote control, the release is automatically switched off.
WHAT:
A double-weight counterweight at the rear of the machine. Shaped like a round bar and positioned to facilitate winching of logs.
WHY:
To prevent the machine from “standing on its nose” when it is unloaded and driven downhill or in reverse. Also provides better traction when driving.
WHAT:
Protective plate over the throttle cable attachment to the carburetor to minimize water ingress and specially made grease nipples on both the throttle and brake cables for blowing clean and lubricating.
WHY:
Even though the cables have solid Teflon inner sheaths, moisture can collect and the cables freeze – protective plates and grease nipples both prevent and remedy this problem.
WHAT:
Protective frame in welded tube construction that can be individually folded out on both sides of the machine.
WHY:
To facilitate service and maintenance and create more space for storage boxes and other personal equipment.
OTHER INFO:
The sides of the tube arch are suspended from the load protection and open outwards, forwards. Locked in the front of the machine with strong buckles.
WHAT:
The joystick has been reinforced in two places and has been given a different and more robust locking of the different driving positions that the lever can be set to.
WHY:
To prevent the joystick tube from bending and to simplify locking the joystick position.
In addition to the points shown, several smaller but important improvements have been introduced in connection with the launch of the Iron Horse Flex 2. Here are some pictures of these and if you would like to know more, please contact us for a review.
